When damage to an existing tooth is severe or when the tooth has been significantly weakened from repeated use, we can use a porcelain/tooth-colored crown to make the tooth appear like new again. This is an extremely reliable technique and can be used for even some of the most severe dental problems. A crown can replace a portion of a missing tooth and provides support to remaining teeth. The result is a completely natural smile and restored functional chewing.
Fitting a crown requires two office visits. During the first visit we will remove decay and any remaining old filling material, build the tooth up with composite, shape the tooth and place a temporary crown. On the subsequent visit the temporary crown will be removed, the permanent crown placed and cemented, returning the tooth to a natural appearance. These treatments are long-lasting and address major dental problems.
