Mouthguards are worn in order to prevent injury to the teeth, tissue and surrounding bone during sports play. The level of protection and overall comfort provided by a mouthguard is ultimately based on what type of mouthguard you choose to wear. A custom guard that is fitted specifically to a player’s mouth provides the best protection, fit and comfort. Mouthguards may be optional in the sport of your choosing, but we believe that they should be mandatory in order to protect dentition during sports. In fact, the American Dental Association recommends the use of a mouth guard for 29 sports/exercise activities. These include ice hockey, lacrosse, football, field hockey, acrobatics, basketball, boxing, discus throwing, gymnastics, handball, martial arts, racquetball, rugby, shot putting, skateboarding, skiing, skydiving, soccer, squash, surfing, volleyball, water polo, weightlifting and wrestling.
